ABOUT ME
RYAN BUTLER
I am a former starting forward for the Philadelphia Fury, a professional soccer team in the American Soccer League. In my career for the Fury, I scored 41 goals in 39 appearances.
Prior to that, I played collegiate soccer at Ursinus College (Collegeville, PA), where I earned a spot on the All Centennial Conference Team each of my four years. I finished second in scoring in school history with 36 career goals.
I obtained a Bachelor of Science in Health & Exercise Physiology in May 2016, and I am currently working towards my certification to become a Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
One of my main focuses is mental toughness and how it plays a role in not only athletics but personal training. I believe that having the right mentality and ability to push yourself to the limit separates good from star athletes. I have experienced several injuries and setbacks throughout my soccer career and learned through the recovery process that perseverance and determination are crucial to becoming a tougher athlete.

One goal, three steps
My training plan involves focusing on a skill through three steps. First, practice a skill until it becomes second nature. Second, incorporate and perform the skill in competition. Third, seek ways to improve the skill to develop and progress as a player.
